Description of excursion

Day 1 Thursday: ZAGREB
Upon arrival at Zagreb Airport, transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Friday: ZAGREB - RIJEKA
Morning city tour of Zagreb including the fortified Upper Town, the city's historical center, St Mark´s church with its multicolored roof, the Cathedral, Croatian National Theater and University.
After lunch departure to Rijeka. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Saturday: RIJEKA - ZADAR - TROGIR -SPLIT
After breakfast, depart for Zadar where we arrive in time for lunch. Orientation tour of Zadar including the Roman Forum from the 2nd century BC and the 9th century pre-Romanesque church of St Donatus. We continue for Split, stopping en route in Trogir, a picturesque medieval town. Dinner and overnight in Split.

Day 4 Sunday: SPLIT - DUBROVNIK
Morning city tour of Split covering the Diocletian´s Palace on UNESCO´s List of World Cultural Heritage with the Peristyle, Jupiter´s Temple and the Cathedral. After lunch, we depart for Dubrovnik, driving along the Makarska Riviera. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 5 Monday: DUBROVNIK
After breakfast, we will tour Dubrovnik included in UNESCO´s List of World Cultural Heritage. You will visit the Rector´s Palace, the Cathedral, the Dominican Monastery and the Franciscan Monastery with Europe´s third oldest pharmacy. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 6 Tuesday: DUBROVNIK - PLITVICE
Morning departure for Plitvice, driving along the Adriatic Coast and the Neretva River Delta, then inlands across the valley of the Cetina River. Lunch in Trilj followed by a continuation of the drive for Plitvice. Dinner and overnight in Plitvice.

Day 7 Wednesday: PLITVICE
After breakfast, we tour the Plitvice Lakes National Park on UNESCO´s List of World Natural Heritage. Sixteen lakes, each at the different level, joined in a series of cascading waterfalls. Surrounded by dense woods , Plitvice lakes are natural phenomenon of a rare and unique beauty.
Lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Plitvice.

Day 8 Thursday: PLITVICE - ZAGREB
Breakfast followed by departure for Zagreb. Transfer to airport for your return flight.

DAY 1 Friday: VENICE – RIJEKA
Afternoon transfer from Venice ( 3:00 p.m. from Piazzale di Roma ACTV Information Office ) to Rijeka. Dinner and overnight in Rijeka.

DAY 2 Saturday: RIJEKA – ZADAR – TROGIR – SPLIT
After breakfast, depart for Zadar where we arrive in time for lunch. DAY 2 Sunday: ZAGREB - BLED
Morning city tour of Zagreb including the fortified Upper Town, the city`s historical center, St.Mark`s church with its multicolored roof, the Cathedral, Croatian National Theater and University.Leave for Slovenia. DAY 3 Monday: BLED

After breakfast, we will tour the Bled Castle on a steep cliff from where a breathtaking view of the mountain scenery and jewel-like Bled Lake opens up. Take a gondola ride to the small romantic island in the middle of the lake for a visit to the pilgrim Church of the Virgin`s Nativity with the famous Bell of Wishes. Dinner and overnight in Bled.

DAY 4 Tuesday: BLED - POSTOJNA CAVES - OPATIJA
After breakfast, depart for Postojna where we visit one of the largest and most beautiful cave systems in the world. The caves are 14 miles long and boast unique limestone formations and underground galleries, through which you will travel on a small electric train. Lunch at a restaurant in Postojna. After lunch, depart for Opatija, once the favorite resort for the Habsburgs and European royalty as well as cultural figures from Gustav Mahler to Isidora Duncan. Dinner and overnight in Opatija.

DAY 5 Wednesday: OPATIJA
With its gentle climate and luxurious subtropical vegetation (camellias, magnolias, palm trees), elegant old-style hotels and villas, Opatija is today a well known European seaside resort. Day at leisure to explore Opatija`s beautiful parks, small galleries or to enjoy sitting on a terrace of its many caffes.Dinner and overnight in Opatija.

DAY 6 OPATIJA - PLITVICE
After breakfast, depart for Plitvice Lakes on UNESCO`s List of World Natural Heritage. Upon arrival, lunch at the typical restaurant, famous for traditional home-specialities and ambiance. After lunch, we will tour the sixteen crystal-blue lakes, each on a different level, joining each other in a series of cascading waterfalls. DAY 7 PLITVICE - SPLIT

DAY 8 Saturday: SPLIT - DUBROVNIK
Morning city tour of Split covering the Diocletian`s Palace on UNESCO`s List of World Cultural Heritage with the Peristyle, Jupiter`s Temple and the Cathedral. Built by Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the 4th century as an imperial fortified residence, it is today an intriguing maze of narrow cobblestone streets, where pre-Romanesque churches are nestled alongside Gothic chapels. Depart for Dubrovnik after lunch at a typical restaurant serving regional specialties in the old town of Split. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

DAY 9 Sunday: DUBROVNIK
After breakfast, depart for Pile Gate for a walking tour of the historic core of the mediaeval city of Dubrovnik included in UNESCO`s List of World Cultural Heritage. You will visit Rector`s Palace, the Cathedral, the Dominican monastery, the Franciscan monastery with Europe`s third oldest pharmacy, and other interesting sights. Lunch in exclusive Nautika Club restaurant. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

DAY 10 Monday: DUBROVNIK
Morning tour of Cavtat followed by lunch at Konavoski Dvori restaurant located in an ancient mill next to a cascading stream where we will taste traditional delicacies including roast lamb, veal or freshly caught trout grilled or cooked under iron bells covered with hot coal. Return to Dubrovnik. Afternoon free to explore on your own. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

DAY 11 Tuesday: DUBROVNIK - Departure
Transfer to Dubrovnik Airport for your return flight.
