Of the eight islands and five islets that make up the Elafiti or Deer Islands, Šipan is the largest. The Elafiti islands are located in the south between Dubrovnik, island Mljet and Peljesac peninsula. Every Adriatic island is different, but the image of Sipan, it's colors and scents, legend and tales, magical tranquility, are bound to stay with you for a very long time. Sipan is separated from the mainland by the Kolocep channel, and from Lopud island by the Lopud Gateway. The hospitality of it's inhabitants will embrace you, making every moment special. Beauty on and around Sipan is a constant.
Sudurad is located in a small bay in the south east of the island and is well known for its St. George's Church which dates back to 1285, though most of the buildings was constructed in the 16th century. In 1577 the huge citadel of the Church of the Holy Spirit was built in Sudurad in a renaissance-mannerist style and in the shape of a cross. It served as a refuge from pirates.

HOW TO ARRIVE
By Boat: The two local companies, Jadrolinija and Nova International run passenger service several times a day. Daily during the main season and twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays during off seasonal period, you can take advantage of the local car ferry line as well, either as a passenger or with your car, if you wish, although a car in unnecessary on Šipan. Please ask us for the exact timetable, which is subject to seasonal changes.
By car: Take the new highway toward Split, then on the coast road to Dubrovnik. From Dubrovnik there are local car ferry lines.
By flight: Fly to Dubrovnik airport, about 20 km north of the city, take a bus or a taxi to Dubrovnik Harbor at Gruž, and then take a small ferry-boat or a fast motor boat to either Suđurađ or Šipanska Luka ports. These ferries run via the other famous Elafiti islands of Koločep and Lopud on route to Šipan Island.
